A wheeled skid steer final drive is a different animal than a track loader travel motor. Most wheeled skid steers do not have a hydraulic motor in the wheel — they run a chain case with hydraulic drive motors mounted to the frame.   • Wheel-hub axle seals — the outside seal on each wheel; leaks contaminate the wheel bearings and eventually the brake if the machine has one
  • Hydraulic drive motor — piston group wear from years of service and contaminated oil
  • Chain and sprocket wear — usually replaced as a set when the case is open
  • Sealed wheel bearings — replace both sides at once when they start howling

Track-Drive Skid Steers (all the compact track loaders)

These are the compact track loaders — technically not always called skid steers by the manufacturer, but customers ask for skid steer final drive repair on them all the time. Do you sell exchange skid steer final drive units?

For the track-drive machines, yes — we can source exchange finals when rebuild is not the best answer. For chain-case machines, rebuild is almost always the right call.

Can I run a chain-case skid steer with a small leak until it stops?

Not safely. The chain runs in oil, and once it runs dry the sprocket teeth hook-wear in a handful of hours. That doubles the repair.

How much does skid steer final drive repair cost?

Do you use OE or aftermarket parts?
