Ames Hydraulics is owned and operated by Josiah Ragsdale.
Josiah started working on equipment when he was 18. His father, Kent Ragsdale, sold car lifts and Hunter Engineering equipment in Iowa, and Josiah came up doing the hands-on work — installing, repairing, and learning hydraulics the hard way, one job at a time. In 2019 he founded his own service business, Automotive Lift Services, after seeing the same problems everywhere he went: equipment installed wrong, never inspected, and put back into service before it was ready. That same standard runs Ames Hydraulics today.
At Ames Hydraulics the focus is in-shop hydraulic and heavy equipment repair: hydraulic cylinder rebuild, hydraulic pump, valve and motor work, wet kits and truck upfitting, welding and custom fabrication on frames, implements and attachments, aluminum repair, tank repair, custom fabricated parts, and DOT inspections. Every hydraulic cylinder that leaves the shop is pressure tested before it goes back on the equipment, and local customers get free pickup and delivery within 60 miles.
