Any stage’s rod can pit or scar. Any stage’s seal can blow internally, causing the trailer to lower under load. Scissor Hoist Cylinder Rebuild

Scissor-hoist dump trucks use a mechanical linkage driven by a single hydraulic cylinder. Rebuild scope is standard cylinder work plus attention to the scissor linkage — pins, bushings, and pivot bearings that wear over years. Some dump trailer cylinder rebuild jobs on scissor systems also include linkage service if the customer wants a complete overhaul.

Common Failure Modes

Three failure modes cover most dump trailer cylinder rebuild jobs. First, rod seals leak. Wiper seals get eaten by aggregate dust and grit; pressure seals wear from cycle count. Second, piston seals blow internally, causing the trailer to settle under load. Third, rods pit from moisture, salt, and dirt trapped past the wiper.
