The material inside a spreader is chemically aggressive, mechanically abrasive, and gets into every joint, bushing, and seal. Apron Chain, Slats, And Drive System

The most common manure spreader repair is apron-chain and slat work. Apron chains stretch, break links, and eventually the take-up runs out. Slats warp from repeated freeze-thaw cycles with load in the box, and slat-to-chain attachment bolts corrode and shear. We can replace individual slats, splice or replace apron chain sections, and rebuild the apron drive gearbox or hydraulic motor at the head of the box. On hydraulic-drive spreaders (most modern units), the apron motor is a low-speed high-torque gerotor or piston motor that wears predictably from the corrosive environment plus normal service duty. When the apron slows down or starts skipping, that motor is usually the culprit — we rebuild it, replace it, or install a spec-equivalent aftermarket depending on the customer’s economics.

Beater Weldment And Hydraulic Repair

Beater bars on the discharge end of a spreader take the hardest impact loads on the machine. Beater flighting wears, beater bars bend, and the beater-bearing supports crack from cumulative shock. We repair beater weldments with new material where the parent bar has worn thin, replace beater flighting, and re-align the beater assembly so it doesn’t chew up its own bearings after we hand the machine back. On hydraulic-drive beaters (many high-capacity Kuhn Knight and Meyer machines), the beater drive motor is a piston motor and rebuilds similarly to the apron drive. Manure spreader repair on the beater side almost always means straightening bent flighting or beater bars, replacing worn tips, and inspecting the bearings that carry the beater shaft — because those bearings are the second most expensive thing to replace on the machine if they fail during use.

Frame And Box Weld Repair

Structural manure spreader repair is the third big lane. Spreader boxes rust from the inside out. We weld in patch plates, replace failed box sections, and rebuild frame members that have corroded through. Where we can, we prep and prime the repair area so the fix lasts — a bare-steel weld inside a manure spreader will start rusting within weeks. We can also add sacrificial doublers along the box floor where wear is worst, which is a cheap way to add years of service life to an otherwise sound machine.
